Get experience with the Turner Ashby High School Boy's Basketball program


The Turner Ashby High School Boy's Basketball program (located in Bridgewater, Virginia) is looking for motivated individuals to fill a variety of coaching positions. Positions include: Varsity Assistant, Junior Varsity Assistant, AAU feeder program coach or assistant, Scout, Statistician, Game DJ, and more. 

Qualified applicants must have a passion for the game of basketball and be very reliable. Applicants should also be detail oriented, able to think quickly on their feet, and have a willingness to follow direction and learn new skills. Experience playing or coaching the sport of basketball is a plus.

You will have a chance to do a variety of tasks such as schedule camps, assist at practice and on game days, help in the weight room, and learn almost every facet of what it takes to run a successful high school program. 

Our main season runs from November through March. We also have opportunity with our AAU program from October through February, and our summer program from June to mid-July.

Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the age of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour.

Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country, with the majority of our stops in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina the HJGT is branching out to 4 new states this year, which includes Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio. Golfers who participate on tour will compete in one of four age divisions: Boys 11-14, 15-18, and Girls 11-14 and 15-18.

The organization has a few internship opportunities available for the fall: Marketing & Administration and Tournament Operations & Marketing.

JMU Sport and Recreation Management Practium/Internship Information

Attention all JMU sport and recreation management students!  

Please be aware of the meeting dates for spring practicums and internships.  This semester and next, there will be separate meetings for KIN students and SRM students.  Any KIN student that attended a spring meeting will not need to attend again.  The meeting for SRM students is mandatory, even if the student attended a spring session.

Also note that this is the last time KIN students can attend a meeting to be eligible for KIN 472.  The last KIN 472 will be this spring; the last KIN 482 will be next summer.  Individual meetings will not take place this semester.

Corporate Hospitality Intern - Washington Redskins (Ashburn, VA)

The Washington Redskins are seeking qualified individuals to join the Corporate Hospitality Department as an Intern. The right individual will be able to work as part of a team or individually. Intern responsibilities include but are not limited to lead generation, data entry, internet research, client services, and event planning. Candidates MUST be available at least 30 hours a week and home game days.

Qualifications:
· Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal
· Superior telephone manner and etiquette are necessary.
· Above average computer skills including Excel are required.
· Superior customer service skills are a plus
· Proven experience to appropriately work with and around confidential information is necessary
· Ability to work independently or as part of a team and ability to take direction is a must.

8th Annual Charlotte Bobcats Career Fair


The Charlotte Bobcats career fair will be held on Friday, March 30 from 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm at Time Warner Cable Arena. There is a $23 registration fee that accompanies this event as they work to bring some of the best companies in the region to their career fair. This event is beneficial for employers, potential employees, or internship seekers. The registration fee helps us ensure a high quality event for everyone and gives an opportunity for everyone to see firsthand the inner workings of the sports and entertainment industry. 

Not only does the registration grant access to the career fair, but it includes a ticket to that evening’s game against the Denver Nuggets at 7:00 pm. This will give the participants interested in the sports industry an opportunity to see how an arena is transformed and how many different avenues there are to work in our industry.

Georgia State Games - Event Management Internship

The Georgia State Games is one of the largest Amateur Olympic-Style Sports Festivals in the country. They rely heavily on top quality interns to operate many of their sporting Events Projects and Programs. It is a tremendous experience and they had a ton of interns from across the country last year. The interns get a GREAT, HANDS-ON experience. No fetching coffee. Real life planning and implementation of activities and programs in what they will experience. This is a NOT-FOR-PROFIT experience, much different than any college sports, pro sports or corporate setting being offered to date.

5th Annual Internship Fair - Ripken Stadium, Aberdeen, MD


Ripken Baseball, Inc. will be holding its 5th Annual Internship Fair on Saturday, January 7 from 10 am – 1 pm at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Maryland.  They will be interviewing on the spot and making offers to students that are a good match for their internships.  They will also be holding a drawing for special signed baseball memorabilia items for all students that attend the fair!
